
Delegates from ASEAN Member States have gathered in Manila, Philippines, for the 1st Technical Committee Meeting (TCM) in preparation for the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2025 from February 25 – March 1, 2025.
Delegates from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Timor-Leste are attending in person, while Lao PDR and Vietnam are participating virtually. The event also marked the warm welcome of Timor-Leste as the newest member of the WorldSkills ASEAN family.
Hosting the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition is a significant milestone for the Philippines, as the event returns to the country after nearly 30 years. In his opening address, TESDA Secretary/Director General and WorldSkills Philippines Official Delegate, Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez, reaffirmed TESDA’s commitment to the future of work. He encouraged all ASEAN Member States to uphold the highest standards of skills excellence to build a globally competitive workforce.
The Heads of Delegation from each participating country echoed this sentiment, pledging their support to ensure the success of WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 and to champion Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) excellence across the region.
The 1st TCM brings together technical experts, jury panel members, skill advisors, and industry partners for meaningful exchanges of ideas and expertise. The collaborative discussions aim to shape and strengthen the technical foundation of the competition, setting the stage for a well-prepared and impactful event.
Scheduled for August 2025, WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 promises to be a landmark occasion that celebrates skills development and fosters regional cooperation.
