PHIL Robotics Team wins 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals @WRO 2013

The World Robot Olympiad is an annual international robotics competition, where students are challenged in many different levels and across multiple curriculum relevant subjects. WRO strengthens skills required for 21st century skills, but fosters values like teamwork, innovation, creativity and problem solving. 36 countries , and a total of 392 teams (over 1,000 students) participated this year.

The Philippine Robotics Team (represented by 112 participants) have shown the “Unbreakable Filipino spirit” during the World Robot Olympiad 2013 (November 13-18,2013) held in Jakarta, Indonesia only a few days after Super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. Other countries signified their concern and sympathy for the thousands of victims of the typhoon. Despite the challenges in the Philippines, the Philippine Robotics Team had one of the best performance in WRO history!The theme is Promotion and Prevention of World Heritage Sites. PHIL won 2 Silver Awards . Open /Creative Category – Dr. Yanga’s College Inc. (DYCI), Elementary for Tubataha Reef and Junior High School Level for Banaue Rice Terraces. 2 Bronze Awards, College Level – Dr. Yanga’s College Inc. (DYCI) and Open /Creative Category-Junior High School Level. Grace Christian College for Tubataha Reef . Director Elizabeth Fontanilla, Science Education Institute-DOST joined the delegation. World Robot Olympiad 2014 will be held in Moscow, Russia.
