The World Robot Olympiad, is a science, technology and educational event, a friendly robotics competition for promising elementary and secondary students in a multi-cultural setting. The WRO was first held in Singapore (2004), Bangkok (2005), Nanning, China (2006), Taipei (2007), Yokohama (2008), Pohang, South Korea (2009) and MANILA (2010). As host, it gave our country the opportunity to showcase our student’s science and technology skills. A total of 1,012 students (239 teams) from twenty two (22) countries participated last November 5-7, 2010 at SMX Convention Center/ Manila Hotel. To date, this has been the largest World Robot Olympiad.
The Philippines is an emerging Technology Hub in the Asia/Pacific region. The robotics Program encourages the youth to be our future engineers, scientists and inventors who will create products and systems for better quality of lives all over the world.
